That Dickenson Girl is written by author Joan Bouza Koster who is an award-winning author of fiction and nonfiction and have contributed to works of ethnography, education, anti-racism, and the arts. She holds a doctorate from Binghamton University and has published two textbooks on teaching the arts. Her short stories have appeared in several anthologies, and have received awards from Women on Writing, Stone Thread Publishing, and Winning Writers. She is currently in the process of writing a historical fiction series called The Forgotten Women, which is about several nineteenth century women who never should have been forgotten. This book That Dickenson Girl is a part of that series.

Eighteen-year-old Anna Dickenson is nothing like the women around her, and she knows it. Gifted with powerful voice, a witty nature, and unbounded energy, she sets out to surpass the men of her day as she rails against slavery and pushes for women rights.
